LinkedIn Optimization

Read your profile, diff it against your evidence, and propose honest rewrites.

The optimize-linkedin skill reads your live LinkedIn profile through your session browser, compares it to your targeting and evidence bank, and proposes honest, evidence-backed rewrites of your headline, About, experience bullet points, and Featured section.

Setup

LinkedIn profile work is opt-in and requires a browser capability:

rolester automation status # see what is enabled
rolester automation consent linkedin --write # record ToS consent
rolester automation enable profile_optimize linkedin --write # enable reading

A separate gate covers writing edits back:

rolester automation enable profile_apply linkedin --write

Running a profile pass

With the capability enabled, say:

optimize my LinkedIn / review my LinkedIn profile

The skill:

  1. Opens your LinkedIn profile in the session browser.
  2. Reads your current headline, About, experience, and skills sections.
  3. Diffs each section against your targeting.yml (target roles, keep signals) and evidence.yml (confirmed accomplishments).
  4. Proposes rewrites that are honest, evidence-backed, and aligned with your target roles.
  5. Shows the full before → after diff before touching anything.

Nothing is written until you review and approve the diff.

Applying edits

After reviewing the before → after:

apply the suggested edits / apply just the headline change

The skill applies the approved edits field by field through the session browser. Every edit requires separate confirmation. Nothing is bulk-applied.

Suggest-only mode (no browser)

If you do not have the capability enabled, the skill runs in suggest-only mode: it reads your exported LinkedIn profile (a .pdf or .txt you paste) and proposes rewrites without automating the browser. You copy the suggestions and apply them by hand.

What the skill will not do

  • It will not change your headline to a target title you do not currently hold. Target titles go in your "Open to Work" section, not your headline.
  • It will not invent accomplishments. Every rewrite traces to your evidence bank.
  • It will not remove factual experience lines. It rewrites for clarity and relevance, not fiction.

NDA and codename conventions

If any of your experience is under NDA, the skill uses the codename or obfuscation you provide in your evidence (e.g. "a Fortune 500 fintech" rather than the company name). It never violates a stated honesty boundary.
